HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Public service bomb squads and military units trained together in an exercise on Redstone Arsenal Tuesday.

The operation was part of a four-city exercise that spanned the country. It was organized by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms' National Center for Explosives Training and Research.

Teams were given a scenario in which explosives landed in the hands of a radical group. The Redstone team was responsible for serving search warrants.

The arsenal served as the bomb management center for this exercise.

"You've got the school that trains the public safety bomb squad personnel here," said ATF Special Agent Donald Robinson. "You get everything from the basic to the advanced training from these facilities down here, and it's also the hub for a number of the EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) units that are in the area."

Loud noises may continue to be heard as the exercise runs into the day Wednesday. Crews will detonate all the explosives they found as part of the training.
