To either keep or fire Carol Wicks as Director of Animal Services will be a decision made by the city council. If it comes to that, it would be put on a Decatur City Council meeting agenda for further review. So far, it is not on the agenda for their next meeting on Sep 2. If the issue comes before the city council, that's when we hope to find out why Mayor Kyle decided to put Wicks on paid administrative leave. He will not comment on it, saying he cannot talk about a pending personnel issue. RUSSELLVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Authorities in Russellville are investigating after they said a man fired shots into an ATM over the weekend.

Investigators said it happened at the Community Spirit Bank on Highway 43.

Surveillance footage showed a man with a towel covering his face approach the ATM before opening fire on it. Police found three shotgun shells on the ground and three holes in the machine.

Police Chief Chris Hargett said his men continue to follow all leads that come in.

"This is one of those situations where, if an officer would have driven up about the time it happened, it would have turned very serious," Chief Hargett said. "You have an armed assailant trying to gain access to the ATM, and then they're going to look at the officer, who is going to be armed... It could have turned out a lot worse."

No arrests have been made at this time. Police continue to investigate the shooting. If you have information related to the shooting, you are asked to call the Russellville Police Department.
