HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Huntsville police responded to a call about a shooting on Niblick Avenue.

When police arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to the mouth.

Police said the victim told them he was in a car with two other men. When he turned around to speak to one of the men, the man shot him in the mouth and stole his car, a white Volvo.

He then ran from where the incident happened to the dead end of Niblick.

HEMSI and Huntsville Fire responded and treated him. He was taken to Huntsville Hospital with a serious but non-life threatening injury.

Police said the victim even gave a thumbs up as he was being loaded into the ambulance.

Huntsville police found the white Volvo at a gas station on Governors Drive. No one was inside, and they have not found the driver.

The investigation is still underway.
