Fifteen years ago, thunderstorms moved over the same area for several hours across the Tennessee Valley, beginning around midnight on June 28, 1999.

Flash flooding began around 1:20 a.m. in Huntsville. The Aldridge Creek flood plain was the hardest hit location in the Huntsville area as the creek was quickly flooded.

In total, more than 300 homes and businesses were flooded in the Huntsville area, resulting in about $7-million worth of damage.

Homes and businesses in Lauderdale and Colbert Counties were also affected by the flooding. Boaz in Marshall County experienced small creek and stream flooding and Franklin County, Tennessee experienced minor flooding.
