JACKSON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The victim of a machete attack in Jackson County is homeon Friday night and recovering after being released from the hospital. ChrisGaylor was brutally attacked earlier in the month allegedly by his neighborover dog  feces in the yard.

The biggest question Gaylor had is why. Why would youtake a machete to someone over something so trivial?

The attack left Gaylor needing care around the clock, buthe suffered very serious injuries in the attack. His right arm was severed, healmost lost his right leg when it was cut to the bone, his left arm receiveddamage to his elbow which required reconstructive surgery, and the first blowwas to his head which required more than 20 staples to reattach his scalp.

His neighbor, Jeffrey Tyrone Walker, is charged withattempted murder and is in federal custody where he faces having his probationrevoked. Walker was released from prison last year after serving nearly twentyyears on a drug charge. Gaylor said he wishes he knew how serious Walkers pastwas before he went to his home.

"They let you know when a sex offender moves in yourneighborhood," said Gaylor. "I think it ought to be made if somebody was inprison on parole that's dangerous, they should let you know when they move in.I think that's a law that should be put in place because you can't dobackgrounds on everybody."

Gaylor said he's concerned if Walker is released fromprison, but said family promises to be there to keep him safe. Meanwhile, thistragedy has taken a financial toll on him and his family. He now can't work andhis wife is home to take care of him.
