To either keep or fire Carol Wicks as Director of Animal Services will be a decision made by the city council. If it comes to that, it would be put on a Decatur City Council meeting agenda for further review. So far, it is not on the agenda for their next meeting on Sep 2. If the issue comes before the city council, that's when we hope to find out why Mayor Kyle decided to put Wicks on paid administrative leave. He will not comment on it, saying he cannot talk about a pending personnel issue. MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC) - Every time you check in at an airport, you are paying a list of fees competing with the Transportation Security Administration lines you wait in before boarding the plane.

Some fees are harder to see than others, but back to those long TSA lines, you are actually paying to stand in them.

After September 11, 2001, a security fee was established, essentially taxing you to create the TSA.

On July 21 that fee is going up. That was decided as part of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013. Also, about 75 percent of the new revenue from the fee hike will not be put toward improving security checks at the airport. Rather, it will be used to offset spending elsewhere in the federal budget.

Right now, the passenger security fee is $2.50 for each plane you take to get somewhere. However, the fee is capped at two plane rides each way. So you won't pay more than $5 en route to a destination, or $10 roundtrip, no matter how many planes you take.

On July 21, however, a flat fee of $5.60 will be imposed in each direction, no matter how many planes you board en route, assuming you only have short layovers.

As a result, you will pay more than double if you fly nonstop, $11.20 roundtrip versus $5 now.

If you'd like to get a closer look at how the security fees will affect you, then you can read the full report here: http://1.usa.gov/1wS4S9T.
