Huntsville police investigate reported rape

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Police are investigating after a rape was reported early Friday morning.

Authorities said the incident happened around 1 a.m. Friday on the 4800 block of University Drive.

A woman told police she was asleep in her hotel room when a stranger knocked on the door. According to the report, the woman let the man inside her room and was later forced to have sex with him.

The woman told police she left the hotel room and walked down University Drive until she was able to flag a driver down to take her to the hospital.

Police continue to investigate.
