MADISON, AL (WAFF) -

Madison police arrested a woman on charges of filing a false report.

Melinda Jean Curtis told police she was robbed while closing the Approved Cash Advance store on Sullivan Street June 17. She said someone assaulted her and took the store's night deposit from her.

Investigators determined Curtis lied about the incident and kept the money she said had been stolen.

Curtis was taken to the Madison County Jail on $5,500 bond.
