(RNN) - It's no secret - some people will do just about anything to escape from their daily routine so they can watch the U.S. Men's Soccer Team play Germany in the World Cup on Thursday.
Cue: U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
The U.S. Soccer Team posted a tongue-in-cheek (we think) excuse note on its Facebook page, signed by Klinsmann.
"The #USMNT has a critical World Cup game vs. Germany, and we will need the full support of the nation if we are to advance to the next round," the note says.
They might also need to brush up on their backstrokes. Heavy rains have caused flooding in the area, yet FIFA officials have said the game will go on as scheduled at noon ET.
Showing this note to any boss is probably a really bad idea, unless your supervisor has a great sense of humor or came to work today wearing an Uncle Sam hat.
But it's worth a shot.
And isn't taking shots what soccer is all about? Well, that and flopping on the ground and writhing in pain to gain an advantage over the opponent.
