DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Two women were arrested following an altercation involving a box cutter that took place in full view of a Decatur police officer.

Jessica Lanea McDonald and Alexis Antesia Bolding are charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

The arresting officer said he was at an 8th Avenue apartment complex responding to a trespassing call. While there, Bolding saw McDonald pull up in a car. The officer said Bolding walked past him and confronted McDonald over an issue between the two.

The verbal confrontation became physical, and McDonald armed herself with a box cutter, swinging it at Bolding several times, injuring the other woman. Bolding grabbed hold of the weapon and returned injury.

McDonald and Bolding went to separate hospitals for treatment of their wounds before their arrest.
