Madison Co. wheat field partially burned in fire

MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A fire in a wheat field charred over four acres of ground in Madison County Wednesday.

It happened at 3 p.m. in a field across from 189 Lacy Circle.

Toney Fire & Rescue officials said two road attack trucks, one engine and medical units were sent to the scene.

About half an acre was involved when teams arrived. Officials said the wheat had not been harvested, and about 4.5 acres had been destroyed.

No injuries were reported. Madison County deputies and the county fire marshal are investigating.

    Just after 1 p.m. Monday, Albertville Police were called to respond to a fight on Highpoint Rd. When they arrived on the scene they found someone shot.  The victim was unable to be life flighted due to heavy cloud cover and was instead taken to Marshall Medical Center South.  Police are still investigating the incident.
