HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Thousands of people headed downtown for the food truck event on Friday evening.

The event was held on Church Street in Big Spring Park. There were long lines at just about every food truck vendor. The heat didn't stop people from coming out and enjoying good food and good music.

"We've been living in Huntsville for five years and just to see that the city is really promoting and prompting more gatherings," said Evan Carter, one of the participants. "There's a little more music to the entertainment section of downtown. Just really glad that they're trying to beef up the entertainment that they provide."

The event featured about 22 mobile food vendors. The next food truck event will take place on July 18.
