Police: Man critically injured after being shot in chest by neighbor

CONCORD, NC (WBTV) -

A Concord man is hospitalized with critical injuries after police say he was shot in the chest, twice, by his neighbor.

According to Concord Police, 54-year-old Larry Wayne Knight was found suffering from two gunshots wounds to the chest at his home along the 4800 block of Birdie Way Court in Concord.

It happened around 7:50 p.m. Thursday night, police say.

Knight told police he was shot by 40-year-old William Brian Lomax.

Lomax was arrested by deputies down the street at his home.

Knight was taken to CMC-Northeast and later to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where he is in critical condition

Lomax is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, according to the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office.

His bond was set at $400,000.
