Christie Dutton says storms are likely

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Take the umbrella with you today. You will likely see a few storms today, especially during the afternoon and early evening.

These storms are not expected to be severe. However, they could have heavy downpours and gusty winds. The storms taper off tonight for a warm and muggy evening.

The summer solstice is tomorrow and the official beginning of summer is at 6:51 a.m. We have a small chance of an afternoon storm tomorrow for the first day of summer, but most of the area will stay dry and hot.

The rain is expected to stay out of the forecast for Sunday to finish the weekend.

FORECAST:

Today: 60% storm chance. Mostly cloudy. High: 90°

Tonight: Partly cloudy. 30% storm chance. Low: 73°

Tomorrow: Partly sunny. 20% afternoon storm chance. High:  90° Low: 72°
