CENTER POINT, AL (WBRC) -

Family members are mourning the loss of a Center Point pilot who was killed Wednesday in a plane crash in Huntsville.

William "Bill" Christopher II, 57, lived in Center Point with his wife Lori. They were married for more than 30 years.

Thursday, Lori Christopher had photos of her husband on display on a table in the family's living room. She and a close friend said Christopher first got his pilot's license in 1976 when he was fresh out of high school.

His father, who had also been a pilot, played a big role in that decision. His wife and friend described how he learned to fly by washing planes at the airport in Pearland, Texas in exchange for lessons.

Christopher eventually made a career out of flying, racking up more than 20,000 hours of flight times piloting commercial planes. He got international experience by flying to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and on one trans-Atlantic flight to Europe.

Christopher has three adult children. He also served as a Boys Scouts of America Scoutmaster. He became an Eagle Scout at the age of 15 and was named in the Eagle Scout Roll of Honor.

Deputy Madison County Coroner David Young also said that Kenneth Lynn Rousseau, 67, of Harpersville, and Robin Gary Smith, 60, of Yukon, Oklahoma died in the crash.
