(WMC) - The man convicted of raping two young girls over an extended period of time was sentenced to 50 years in prison on Thursday.

James Hawkins Sr., 62, was sentenced by Judge Lee Coffee to 25 years in prison for each count of child rape for which he was convicted. He will not be eligible for parole.

Hawkins was found guilty in April of raping two girls who were as young as 6 years old when the abuse started. The assaults continued for eight years until the victims, now 14 and 18, were removed from the home.
