FAYETTEVILLE, TN (WAFF) -

The woman accused in a Tennessee vehicular homicide case has been indicted, nearly 10 months since the incident.

Misty Shelton faces vehicular homicide and other charges in connection with a police chase that killed one person and injured five people last August.

Police say Shelton stole a police cruiser after she was caught shoplifting from a dollar store in Fayetteville, Tennessee.

While driving the car at high speeds, authorities said she T-boned an SUV with five people inside. One passenger was killed; he was identified as 55-year-old Henry Holt of Westpoint, Tennessee. Four others were injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

The cruiser then crashed into a gas pump, ending the chase. Shelton was injured and taken to the hospital to be treated.

In the June grand jury, Shelton was indicted and charged with theft over $1,000, open container, public intoxication, theft over $10,000, DUI, evading by motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, vandalism over $10,000, vehicular assault, and vehicular homicide.

Her next court date is set for July 8.
