Columbus woman's hostage claims may be false - WAFF-TV: News, Weather and Sports for Huntsville, AL

Columbus woman accused of fabricating hostage situation

A Columbus woman has been charged with false report of crime after she claimed she and her 2-month-old baby were held hostage inside a hotel, police say.

Inconsistencies in her story lead police to believe the incident was not accurately reported. The woman, identified as Jasmine Gordon, claimed two men were holding her captive inside the hotel; however three men were inside the room at the time. She also said she was being held at gunpoint, but no weapon was recovered from the scene.

Police responded to the hostage call at around 5 a.m. Wednesday morning and searched for the woman inside several hotels on Victory Drive and Veterans Parkway. She was eventually found inside Howard Johnson Motel on Veterans Parkway. The woman and her baby were both unharmed.

Three suspects were taken into custody at the scene. Perry Hubbard, David Horton, and Sherry Jones are all charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug related objects. Jones is also charged with prostitution.

The woman's baby is now in her sister's custody.
