FAIRFIELD, AL (WBRC) -

Police believe two men who wernt to different hospitals for gunshot wounds were involved in a shooting in Fairfield on Tuesday night.

Fairfield police found the first victim in the 5200 block of Avenue E around 8:17 p.m. The victim was suffering from gunshot wounds and was able to talk, but refused to give police any information about the suspect.

The first victim was transported to UAB Hospital for treatment.

After officers cleared the scene, they got a call from the ER at Princeton Hospital. A man who came in with a gunshot wound told them he had been shot in Fairfield.

Fairfield Police Chief Leon Davis says the evidence indicates the two men were involved in an altercation with each other that led to the shooting.

Davis says it's still unclear which one was the "primary aggressor."

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Fairfield PD at (205) 786-4111.
