MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A family in the River Region is asking for help in finding their dog that went missing near the downtown Riverfront.

According to one of the family members, they went to the Alabama River to watch the fireworks on Saturday. The family was set up on the shore across from the downtown amphitheater to watch the fireworks.

When the fireworks started, the family stated that the dog, which goes by the name of Country, became scared and bolted off into the woods.

The family searched for the dog until 3 a.m., covering the woods up to Interstate 65. The family eventually gave up for the night and went home.

On Sunday, the family returned with ATVs and began looking again but the search did not yield any results.

The family is still looking for the dog and asks that if anyone has seen their dog or knows someone who picked him up, to contact them at 334-279-6085. They are offering a $500 reward for the dogs return.
