BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Can you imagine having to pass overgrown grass and weeds on the way to your home?

Stacey Jones contacted FOX6 in hopes of getting something done about it.

FOX6 first investigated this complaint about what appears to be an abandoned lot in Norwood in early May. We checked back in to see if the city of Birmingham addressed his concerns.

Last month, grass and weeds were knee high and waist high in some places. It was obvious that the lot was in need a lot of TLC. Stacey Jones said she has been complaining to the city of Birmingham for six years about the lot.

Weeks later, we returned to find that a little work has been done but not much. It looks like the public right of way areas have been cut but that's about all.

FOX6 has asked Birmingham spokesperson April Odom for an update. We will pass it along as soon as she responds.

If you are concerned about an abandoned lot near you like this one in Birmingham, remember there is a process that may take some time.

The city has to locate the owner and give the owner an opportunity to maintain the property before the city steps in.

If you have a similar complaint in Birmingham, call 311.
