NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A standoff at an apartment in East Nashville has come to an end.

Police got a call around 7 p.m. Monday about a shot being fired at an apartment near Cleveland and Meridian streets.

When officers arrived, they say they saw family members hiding.

Police were able to get the relatives out through a window, but a 25-year-old man refused to leave the apartment.

Negotiators were called in to try and get him out, but when that didn't work, a SWAT team was called in to help end the standoff.

Police say one shot was fired inside the home and two firearms were recovered.

The man involved in the standoff has been taken to the hospital for psychiatric evaluation, according to police.
