CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Search warrants released in the case around a missing Charlotte-area teacher are revealing new details about the police investigation after startling new details from Bianca Tanner's 3-year-old son.

According to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police search warrant, 31-year-old Bianca Richardson Tanner's young son says she was routinely beaten by her boyfriend.

Warrants, which were made public on Monday, shows that detectives interviewed Angelo Smith, who reported her missing on June 7.

According to the warrant, Smith told investigators that he received a text message that led to an argument that night between him and Tanner. Tanner left the apartment intoxicated, carrying a bag with her, Smith says.

She hasn't been seen or heard from since.

Tanner recently moved to Charlotte with her son for a teaching job. Before that she was a teacher at Reedy Fork Elementary School in Guilford County.

In an interview with her three-year-old son, investigators learned about the relationship Tanner had with Smith.

"Mommy got a spanking with the belt. Angelo kicked mommy's butt and made her cry," he said in the interview. "Angelo is mean to mommy and hurt mommy in the face."

Smith voluntarily went to investigators for an interview but when they asked for permission to search his phone, he quickly deleted some information before giving consent, according to the warrant.

It is not known what he erased from the phone.

Detectives have also learned that Smith has an outstanding warrant for domestic battery in Springdale, Arkansas.

Smith's girlfriend at the time reported that he "threw her onto the bed and covered her face, both mouth and nose, with his hand smothering her," according to the warrant.

Detectives went back to Smith's apartment on Druid Circle on June 10.

They asked to search his red Ford Mustang, which was parked in the rear of the residence and covered with a car cover.

Tanner left behind her car, prescription medicine, personal belongings and her child when she reportedly left the apartment on that night of June 7, according to the warrant.

Investigators searched the apartment on June 10 as well as the Mustang parked out back.

They seized a laptop computer, foam bedding, iPhone, papers, two notebooks, a black zipper pouch with an empty magazine inside, a bottle of rum, two torn photographs and the back of an earring, according to the warrant.

Detectives interviewed several of Tanner's family as well and no one has reported any recent contact with her.

There has also been no bank account activity on her debit card and no cell phone use or social media activity by Tanner, police say.

Police have not charged Smith with anything and say the investigation is ongoing.
