Elderly man jailed on sex abuse charges

GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A Marshall County man has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing two young girls.

Investigators said 79-year-old Robert Thomas Stanton of Guntersville was booked into the Marshall County ail on two counts of sex abuse of a child less than 12.

Boaz Police said the incidents involved a 10 and 11-year-old girl at a home in Boaz in February. According to police, Stanton inappropriately fondled the girls.

The arrest followed an indictment by a Marshall County grand jury. The indictments came to light after the girls told their parents.

Stanton is being held on $300,000 bond.
