ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Attorneys for an Etowah County woman accused of running her granddaughter to death will be in court on Monday.
Joyce Garrard's lawyers will ask a judge to prevent jurors from hearing statements that Garrard made to emergency workers or doctors after her granddaughter collapsed. Prosecutors said Garrard misled medical workers about what happened to Savannah Hardin.
Garrard was charged with capital murder. Police said she made the 9-year-old run for hours as punishment for lying.
