NEW HOPE, AL (WAFF) -

A man led Madison County deputies on a chase Saturday morning in New Hope.

Deputies said during a traffic stop, they saw there was a warrant for the driver's arrest. When they tried to arrest him, deputies said he drove off.

After a short chase, deputies said the man pulled off into a ditch near the intersection of Highway 431 S and Johnson Avenue, exited the car and ran off into a field. He was apprehended by authorities and sent to Huntsville Hospital after it was discovered he had suffered a snake bite. It is unknown whether the snake bite happened during the chase or was from a previous incident.

The identity of the subject and the nature of the charges against him have not been confirmed yet. This investigation is ongoing.
