Decatur police arrest woman in connection with burglary

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

Decatur police arrested a woman in connection with a burglary.

Decatur police responded to a burglary on the 200 block of 10th Avenue NW on June 6. Officers said they believed Lolita Amerson was responsible for the crime.

An officer said he detained Amerson a short time later. Police said a concerned citizen told them he had just seen Amerson with the stolen property, and the items were recovered.

Amerson was charged with one count of burglary in the third degree. She was booked into Decatur City Jail and then transported to Morgan County Jail on a $2,500 bond.

    A ground search ensued that lasted about four hours and covered approximately six miles, ending a few hundred yards east of Hays Mill Road where the suspects were caught in a hunting stand/shoot house.
