It's no secret that men deal with stress and quite often it goes beyond pressure at work.
As part of Men's Health Week, Channel 4 News takes a look at how men may deal with stress differently than women.
"Men, as they age, tend to face stressors of aging and developing chronic health issues," said Dr. Jonathan Becker, a physician at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. "There are physical limitations that they didn't have."
Doctors said when men deal with stress they tend to isolate themselves and pass on things like group sports or hanging out with buddies. They also may turn to substances like alcohol.
What can complicate things is many men are less likely to talk about these issues and seek help.
Doctors said one of the biggest signs that something is wrong is fatigue.
"The stress builds up. They think about it all day. They can't unwind and don't rest well," said Becker. "They're fatigued and not sleeping. It kind of snowballs."
Doctors said fatigue, stress, anxiety and depression can make other medical problems worse.
