DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A local man faces charges on Friday night. He was accused of shooting another man in the face.

The incident happened on June 4 in Decatur on 8th Avenue Southwest.

Police said Joshua Garner-Banks was riding in a vehicle when Leondias Hampton shot him in the face. Investigators said it was the result of a series of threatening text messages between the two.

Hampton was charged with assault and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

The victim in the case, Banks, was recently arrested on an assault charge. He's accused of shooting a man at a home on Runnymeade Southwest on Saturday.

Authorities said the two shootings were not related.
