Selma attempted murder suspect caught in Memphis

SELMA, AL (WSFA) -

An attempted murder and reckless endangerment suspect wanted in Selma has been apprehended in Memphis, TN, after nearly a year on the run.

According to Selma police, Nelson Ellis was wanted for the July 25, 2014 shooting of a 20-year-old woman in the 1600 block of Vickery St., in Selma. The woman was shot in the left thigh with a shotgun.

Authorities received information that Ellis was possibly staying with his girlfriend in Memphis.

On Thursday morning, U.S. Marshals took Ellis into custody at his girlfriend's apartment.

He is waiting for an extradition hearing to be brought back to Alabama where he will face one count of attempted murder and two counts of reckless endangerment.
