HOLLYWOOD, AL (WAFF) -

A volunteer firefighter in Jackson County was injured after being involved in an accident on the way to a call.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of County Road 33 and Highway 72 in Hollywood.

Police said 22-year-old Miranda Tate and another passenger were on their way to a medical call, heading south on CR 33. Chief Jason Hepler said the S-10 pickup Tate was driving crossed into Highway 72 and hit a Nissan Altima driven by 56-year-old Amelia Britt of Bridgeport.

Tate was taken by private vehicle to Highlands Medical Center. The passenger in Britt's vehicle, 38-year-old Crystal Moore of Stevenson, was transported to Highlands by ambulance.

"That's a very dangerous intersection," said Hepler. "We have a lot of traffic accidents there. We really need a red light to help us minimize the risk going through that intersection."

Hollywood Police said both Tate and Moore were treated for their injuries and released.
