COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A Colbert County principal is awaiting a school board decision as to which campus he will be working at this fall.

Principal Bob Montgomery was placed on paid administrative leave back in February. During a meeting in May, the school board voted to renew his contract.

At Thursday's board meeting, the community hoped to hear a decision about what school Montgomery will be assigned to. However, no personnel matters were set on the day's agenda.

He served as principal at Colbert Heights Elementary for several years before being placed on leave. Superintendent Anthony Olivis said the reason behind Montgomery's leave had nothing to do with safety concerns; however he has not been at liberty to discuss the action because it is a personnel matter.

Earlier this month, Montgomery's attorney, Tim Case, said the principal is ready to get back to work. Case said his client has done nothing wrong, and claims the actions taken by the superintendent were improper and did not otherwise comply with the law of the State of Alabama.

Montgomery's future assignment may be discussed at a future meeting set for June 26.
