RUSSELLVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Officials with the Alabama Department of Health are investigating a possible foodborne outbreak in the Russellville area.
They were alerted to the possible outbreak on Wednesday.
Three people - one child and two adults - tested positive for salmonella and at least nine additional cases are being investigated. Officials said they do not believe there will be any more cases forthcoming.
"We do feel like we are focusing in on an entity, and we don't believe it is ongoing at this time," said Assistance State Health Officer Dr. Karen Landers. "We think it is very important the public knows we don't believe it is an ongoing outbreak at this time."
ADPH is working to identify possible common sources. No official sources have been announced yet. Officials believe the contamination took place last week.
