Pedestrian hit by vehicle in Tuscumbia

TUSCUMBIA, AL (WAFF) -

A pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle on Thursday morning.

It happened near Avalon Avenue near the railroad tracks in Tuscumbia.

A Sheffield man was walking when he was struck by the vehicle around 5 a.m.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The man was later identified as 50-year-old Roderick Vinson.

Police said the man in the truck that hit Vinson was on his way to work and said Vinson was dressed in all-dark clothing. The driver was not injured.

Tuscumbia Police continue their investigation, but said charges are not likely to be filed in the case.
