ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

A team including Athens and Huntsville police officers and the Madison County Sheriff's Office worked together to arrest a Huntsville man suspected of burglary.

The burglary was reported back in April. Several items including vehicles, boats and welding equipment were reported stolen from Joe Keenun Construction on US 31.

A truck was recovered soon after the report by Huntsville officers in an abandoned field on Routt Road.

The agencies' continued collaboration led to a search warrant which was served Tuesday at the home of Spencer Rick Coates.

Investigators recovered one of the welders from the Keenun burglary, a 4-wheeler stolen from Madison County, an AR-15 stolen in Huntsville, as well as a quantity of crystal methamphetamine.

Coates was arrested, taken to the Athens Police Department, booked on a charge of third-degree burglary, and transferred to the county jail.

More charges are possible as officers continue their investigation.
