Former Marine in cross-country horseback charity push

DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

An former Marine is working his way through North Alabama on his way to California, raising money for veterans facing post-wartime problems.

Matt Littrell and his friend made their way into DeKalb County on Tuesday. He is making a cross-country trip on horseback to raise money.

Littrell said soldiers are facing mental issues including suicide after serving our country. He said he wants to help because he is one of them.

"I never planned this," said Littrell. "I didn't think of ways I could help. I just knew that this was what I was doing."
