Man dies after being shot near apartment

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man died after he was shot outside of his home near Dixie Highway, according to Louisville Metro police.

LMPD spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said around 11:45 p.m. on June 8 officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1600 block of Brick Kiln Lane.

When officers arrived they found a man who had been shot outside of an apartment building. The victim was taken to University of Louisville Hospital where he later died.

No other injuries were reported in the shooting. The name of the victim has not been released.

Smiley said the LMPD Homicide Unit is investigating but no arrests have been made in the case. Anyone with information is asked the call the anonymous tip line at (502) 574-LMPD (5673).

    An incarcerated Lawrence County man who walked off a work detail earlier this month has been captured in Colorado.  The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office reportedly took Austen Larry Williams, 28, into custody on Saturday.
