ELMORE COUNTY, AL (WSFA) -

The front-runner in the Senate district 30 race tells WSFA 12 News his numbers indicate the run-off will continue.

Even though there has been no word from the Republican Party, Clyde Chambliss says he is about '18 to 20 votes' short of getting that 50% plus one to win it outright.

This bit of news comes one week after the Republican primary election and just a few days after Elmore County officials counted a key box from the Titus community. In that situation, voters did not have the correct ballots and so they were encouraged to vote again.. but ONLY for the Senate 30 race.

The state's Republican Party says it hopes to make an official announcement today by 5 p.m.

You'll hear from Chambliss in our 4 p.m. story and from the runner-up in the race Harris Garner at 6.
