To either keep or fire Carol Wicks as Director of Animal Services will be a decision made by the city council. If it comes to that, it would be put on a Decatur City Council meeting agenda for further review. So far, it is not on the agenda for their next meeting on Sep 2. If the issue comes before the city council, that's when we hope to find out why Mayor Kyle decided to put Wicks on paid administrative leave. He will not comment on it, saying he cannot talk about a pending personnel issue. ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Albertville City Council is taking a serious look at the city's road situation.

A local engineering firm completed a nearly $100,000 study of the city's streets, and has a list of the top 14 roads that need attention.

The firm reviewed more than 500 street segments. City officials said they used to consider repairing streets by which got the most complaints. Now, they have a true sense of which roads they need to deal with first.

"What we're hoping to do, since we have limited funds, is to target and maximize the funds that we do have for paving to make sure we're hitting the worst streets, and also make sure that we're extending the life of the streets," said Albertville City Council President Nathan Broadhurst.

Broadhurst said the council is budgeting about $300,000 each year for street paving.
