SELMA, AL (WSFA) -

A man has been sentenced to ten years for a robbery that occurred in 2012 in Selma.

Michael Jerome Levins pled guilty and was sentenced to ten years on Monday on charges of third degree robbery.

The report states De'Anthony Hyatt picked up Levins, also known as Lil' Mike, on July 3, 2012 and took him to a store. While taking Levins back home, Hyatt pulled over near Old Cigar Factory to check his tires for a flat, and that is when Levins snuck up behind Hyatt, choked him and then drove off in Hyatt's car.

On July 4, 2012, Detectives took Levins into custody at his place of residence at 2524 Brown Street. Detectives transported Levins to Police Headquarters where Hyatt was able to pick him out of a photo lineup.

Detectives questioned Levins in reference to the incident, and that is when he admitted to choking Hyatt and taking his car. Levins says that he did it because Hyatt continued to ask him to do something that he did not agree with. Levins also stated that Hyatt started sending threatening messages, and that he was tired of being harassed. He stated that he choked Hyatt and took his car to teach him a lesson.
