HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Chief Justice Roy Moore handed down an order allowing circuit clerk offices to be open to the public Monday through Friday, unless the court's presiding judge requests otherwise.

Several courts closed their doors to the public one day a week beginning in March of 2013 because clerks needed more time to do administrative work.

Courts across the state became backlogged after layoffs in 2011. The courts will open 5 days a week beginning July 1.
