ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

Five weeks after a tornado outbreak, most of the debris has been cleaned up, and the rebuilding process is in full swing. FEMA wants to make sure storm victims are able to stand up to another possible storm.

An E-F3 tornado bringing winds over 120 miles per hour damaged or destroyed dozens of homes from the Bayhill Marina to downtown Athens. FEMA was on the ground within a couple of days, and now they're looking for people who still need help.

FEMA representatives are camping out at the Lowe's on Highway 72 in Athens for a few days. They've set up displays designed to show storm victims what kinds of products are best to use in the rebuilding process. They said they want to make sure if another storm comes, the repaired home will be able to stand up to nature's fury.

"It's for everyone who wants to come out here, not just those who were affected recently," said Nate Custer with FEMA. "There may be some things that you haven't thought of. Some bracings, some strength things, and steps you can take to your home and make it more disaster resistant so the next time severe weather comes, your damage may be minimized."

The FEMA representatives will be at Lowe's from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. They also wanted to make sure everyone knows, if you haven't applied for aid from the storms, you have until July 1.
