Selma robbery suspect armed with knife now in custody

SELMA, AL (WSFA) -

The Selma Police Department is canceling a lookout for the suspect wanted in connection to an armed robbery. The suspect, 35-year-old Roen Lee Rivers was taken into custody around 8:45 a.m. Monday, according to police department spokesman Lt. Curtis Muhannad.

Officers responded to the 800 Block of Selma Ave. where a female victim says she was confronted by a man who entered the location and requested information on an address for a business.

When the victim attempted to help the man, he approached her with a knife. She screamed and tried to push the man out of the office. The suspect told the woman to stop screaming and he would not hurt her.

Authorities say the robbery investigation is ongoing.
