Troy University approves tuition increase

Posted: Updated:
TROY, AL (WSFA) -

Troy University announced Thursday an approved tuition increase for both undergraduate and graduate students that will become effective in the fall 2014 semester.

The increase was approved in May during a meeting with the Board of Trustees and Troy University Chancellor.

Undergraduates will see tuition rise by 3 percent while graduate students' costs will climb 8 percent.

Also going up is Troy University's general fee. It was $35 per credit hour but will change to $39 per credit hour.

The university says the cost increase comes as it moves to trim more than $4.3 million in expenses.

The university estimates the cost increase will raise more than $7 million in its efforts to offset a budget shortfall of $11 million.
