Storms cause power outage in Madison Co.

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville Utilities reports an outage in the Hazel Green area.

It extends north from Ready Section Road to the Tennessee/Alabama state line and from Highway 231/431 west to Old Railroad Bed Road.

Crews are on the scene and Huntsville Utilities says service will be restored as quickly and safely as possible.

They are also working on several smaller outages around Huntsville and Madison County caused by the line of storms moving through the area.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for parts of Madison and Limestone counties after as much as 3 inches of rain fell in a brief period.

Forecasters say another 2 inches of rain is possible in parts of the Tennessee Valley.

The weather service says strong storms with damaging winds and large hail are possible in central Alabama in an area that includes metro Birmingham.
