HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The outdoor retailer, Cabela's, announced Wednesday that it will build its first Alabama store in the Rocket City, bringing 180 new jobs to Huntsville.

Cabela's joins a long list of other companies that have made the decision to either relocate or expand in Huntsville in just the last 6 months.

So what makes Madison County so enticing to these companies? It looks like it all comes down to the people in the area.

Alabama A&M, Oakwood University, UAH, and J.F. Drake State Technical College are all located in Madison County. Those 4 colleges equate to an educated workforce.

That theory is reinforced when, according to Forbes.com, least 88.9 percent of the population holds at least a high school diploma, compared to the state average of 81.9 percent.

When it comes to higher education, 37.4 percent hold at least a Bachelors degree, compared to the state average of 22 percent.

The median household average in 2012 was $52,533, meaning residents have money to spend on retailers coming to town.
