Son charged with father's death following Montgomery homicide

Montgomery Police say a son is under arrest and charged in the homicide of his father, after a death investigation was launched on Wednesday.

26-year-old Alfonso Hardy has been charged with one count of murder following the death of his father 64-year-old Alfonso Beamon. Hardy has been transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he is being held under a $75,000 bond.

Police and fire medics responded to the 1000 block of Henle Street on the report of a subject down. When they arrived they located Beamon and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Investigators were able to determine Beamon's death to be a homicide stemming from a family dispute.

Marion Shepard, a neighbor, says screams coming from next door pierced the quiet afternoon in her neighborhood off of West Jeff Davis Avenue. The screams were soon replaced by police sirens, officers and detectives converging on the home, located near the I-65/I-85 interchange.

"I just feel real bad cause I've never been this close to something and couldn't do nothing about. When I did find out, the guys came out and said the man was dead and asked us if we would call 911 and they came out but they said whether we had called for help earlier or not, it was too late," Marion Shepard told WSFA.

"This neighborhood is a very quiet neighborhood, everyone knows everyone. This is the only problem that we have had. It just makes you wonder," Shepard added.
