Suspect accused of setting homeless man on fire arrested

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus police have arrested a suspect who is accused of setting a homeless man on fire.

Steven Blake, 36, was arrested on June 5. He is charged with aggravated assault and is interned in the Muscogee County Jail.

The incident happened on June 3 near exit 1 off of J.R. Allen Parkway.

According to police, David Bradavelt engaged in an argument with Blake in a wooded area near a known homeless community. The argument escalated and Blake allegedly doused Bradavelt with kerosene and set him on fire. He was flown to the burn center in Austelle and is in critical condition.
