Eat, drink and be merry as Summer approaches

NORTH ALABAMA (WAFF) -

Can you believe we're already at the halfway point of 2014? Six months from now, the halls will be decked and bells will be ringing. For now though, enjoy those lazy days before summer officially makes its presence on June 21 – but if things get too lazy, there's always these community events and more – all found at the WAFF Events page!

Wade Mountain Night Hike (Free; Friday June 6) – Weather permitting, this evening hike will hopefully let you see the trails in a whole new light – moonlight, of course!

Beer Quest ($20 advance/$25 door; Saturday June 7) – Sci-Quest closes its doors to the kiddies on this night as the adults learn the science behind beer-making.

Summer Latino Festival (Free; Saturday June 7) – Northeast Alabama Community College is host to the annual celebration of Latino culture and heritage.

African Heritage Festival (Free; Saturday June 7) – Willie Green Park in Tuscumbia hosts a celebration of art, crafts, music and dance in African culture.

DeKalb Co. Fiddlers' Convention ($10 spectators/Free under 10; Saturday June 7) – The Rotary Pavilion in Downtown Fort Payne is the new home on this, the 106th anniversary of the musical event.

Remember – the WAFF Events page is free to access and free to contribute to! It's a community bulletin board – if you have an event you would like to share with the Tennessee Valley, please share it with us at events.waff.com!
