FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

A new car is catching eyes at the University of North Alabama. University Police are taking a stand against drunk driving, and they hope this car will help relay their message.

The new ride is half police car, and half taxi. The goal is to help students and community members make safer choices. After all, they said it's cheaper to take a cab ride home over a DUI and ride to jail.

"Our concern here is that they get through school safely, and get out into the world, and carry on with their lives," said Chief Bob Pastula of the UNA Police Department. "This is just part of the ongoing effort we have here at the University Police Department."

University Police said they plan to use the car on patrols and for display around campus.
